About Trends

To me this is a very good example of how we could separate culture and trends. It is very normal to confuse those two, because sometimes we are so used to something that we think it is part of our culture, but in reality its about trends. In this case we can see two things: Mexicans definitely are not like this (rude, with many tattoos, shaved, long t-shirts, jeans, and others), this is only a style, that could be part of any other culture. Second the fact that some Thai men are using the "Mexican style" doesn't mean that it turn them less Thai, I mean, a trend is only a superficial thing that we take. It may reflect our personality, but doesn't change our culture. Those men still being Thai, and they have normal lives. They just use this style as a hobby and get fun of it. I think it is a interesting way to know new people and spend time with them, sharing things in common.

DiscriminACTION

For me it is hard to believe that Colombia is one of those countries where discrimination still exists and affects a lot of Colombian's lives. We are a very young country! and we have so much variety and mestizaje. When people talk about racism, the first thing that come to my mind is: Where is it? I can not see it!
After seen this video I only can have an idea of what it is, but, also I can think about a posible solution. Maybe the only thing that can stop this problem is the education. Even if there are groups of people who seek for the wellness of the AfroColombians, we need that the victims themselves to act, and make their own changes. The government should give education to all those kids that are victims of the racism, because they are the future of our country as well as the other kids are. They could achieve the social stability that we don't have in our country yet. I mean if we have more equality and prepared people, we can have a chance to get more opinions, posibles solutions and actions needed.
